Wars are fought over boundaries that

have been created in the name of politics,

religion, race or beliefs. But the view from space reveals

the true nature of our cosmic home—

a border less planet divided only into land and sea.

Boundaries vanish when we look skyward.

We all share the same sky

The solar eclipse on July 22

The solar eclipse on July 22 will be partial for Coimbatore and during the maximum eclipse about 60 per cent of the sun will be hidden behind the moon.

The eclipse will start at 5.30 a.m. when the sun is below the horizon. The sun rise will be at 06.08 a.m. Maximum eclipse will be at 6.20 a.m. when the sun is just two degrees above the horizon and the eclipse will be over at 7.15 a.m. when the sun is only about 15 degrees above the horizon.

Viewing the sun directly should be avoided. For observing the eclipse safely specially made solar filters or welder class #14 could be used. As the end of the eclipse occurs around 7.15 a.m. to view the eclipse one should position themselves in a place hidden either by trees or buildings. For details K. Sakthivel could be contacted at 98434-25945 and S. Anand at 97904 57568
